🇨🇿 Author, translator, lecturer on creative writing
Lucie Lukačovičová is a writer, translator and creative writing teacher. She is from Prague, Czech Republic but lived for some time in Angola, Cuba, Germany, England and India. She received a master’s degree in Librarianship and Cultural Anthropology at the Charles University in Prague. She has published over 100 short stories in Czech, many articles, 7 novels and another 5 novels with co-authors. She received the European SF Society Encouragement Award and twice the prestigious Czech Karel Čapek Award. She likes literary experiments and blending of genres. She loves travelling and during her travels collects legends, myths and folktales – and often builds her stories around them. She has also published short texts and poetry in Chinese, English, German, Romanian, Italian, Portuguese and Kannada language. Her most recent published short story in English is “Devil in the Deep,” in the anthology “Life Beyond Us,” which also features in the MetropolCon program: Together with editor Julie Nováková and fellow contributors Mary Robinette Kowal and Lisa J. Krieg, Lucie will talk about the book on Saturday, 12 to 1 pm, in Atelier 1. She will also introduce Czech SFF, on Thursday, 4.45 to 5.45, together with Julie Nováková.
