Another wonderful addition to the crew …
- Tell us about you!
My name is Marin, I was born in the same year when the first instalment of a very popular space opera hit the movie theatres. This trilogy should later become my very first fandom as soon as the first video store opened in my hometown in the early Nineties. Growing up in a very small town far away from the centre of the fannish galaxy, it was not until my Twenties that I finally got to meet other fans, mainly because of a great new invention named The Internet. Since then, I’ve never got tired to (re)discover old and new fandoms and talk about them on- and offline with other fans. And after visiting EuroCons several times, the next logical step is now to participate in the orga team.
- What is your role at MetropolCon – and why are you involved?
As it’s my first time in the Orga of a con, I do not have a special function (yet?) I try to help where I’m needed and learn a lot of new things.
- Which artifact accompanies you through your everyday life at a con?
Paper tissues. Very basic, but essential
- Which mythical creature (or android) would you most like share a flat with?
In my teenage years, the answer would have been Spock and Data. Nowadays, I’d move in with my companions from Baldur’s Gate 3.
- If you had a superpower – which one would help you at the con?
I’m sure there are many that would be helpful, but I’d just take a deep breath and get to it. Sometimes, the simple things are the most sufficient.
- Your ultimate survival tip for the MetropolCon?
It’s the people who make a con unforgettable, so relax, have fun and be kind to each other. And stay hydrated!
7. You just won a week-long trip to a fantasy/SF world of your choice: Where will you go?
One week wouldn’t be enough to explore Middle-earth, so I’d just stick to The Shire.
8. What are your wishes for the future of the speculative genres, particularly in Germany?
More stories from people whose voices wouldn’t be heard in the past.
