Scientist
Christopher Coenen is a political scientist who has been a research associate at the Institute of Technology Assessment and Systems Analysis (ITAS), part of the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT), since 2003. There he is head of the research group ‘Health and Technization of Life’. Topics at ITAS have so far included information and communication technologies, biotechnologies, nanotechnologies, transhumanism and human enhancement, neurotechnologies, prosthetics and other areas of the progressing dissolution of human-technology boundaries. He was coordinator of the transnational research project FUTUREBODY from 2017-2022 and has been editor-in-chief of the journal ‘NanoEthics: Studies of New and Emerging Technologies’ since 2013.
