Daniel Illger

🇩🇪 Film and literary scholar

Daniel Illger studied film studies, comparative literature, and philosophy in Berlin and Münster. He is Professor of Popular Cultures at the European University Viadrina in Frankfurt/Oder, has a PhD on the urban stagings of Italian post-war cinema and habilitated with a study on the fantasy mode in video games; his novel trilogy Skargat (Stuttgart 2015-2017) was published by Klett-Cotta. His work focuses on transmedial popular culture research grounded in aesthetic theory.
